Bright sunshine, akward strong westerly wind. Very difficult conditions. Woodford was very quiet today with very few anglers and not much being caught. Even Campbell Baird was having a tough day.
Chris had a fish early on on a diawl bach, but had caught nothing else when I left, hope he got at least one more after I left. All my activity came in one little 40 minute spell after lunch when I deceided to try fishing into the facing wind. Four takes, two hook-ups, one fish landed. Not a great result, but nobody was really doing any better. My fish came to a cat's whisker mini lure on a fast sink line. At least lunch was up to Woodfords usual high standard.
Highlight of the day was watching one of Woodfords regulars, Neill, landing a fish of 8lb 4ozs which Chris netted and I weighed. Neill was one very delighted angler after a long and dogged fight.
It was probably the best day, weather wise, of the week so it was just good to be out and there is always next time. Still an excellent and very enjoyable day.
