Hi All
had a pretty good days fishing at Straid,,south westerly winds which were blustery at times and temperatures were in double figures so all in all a pleasant enough day for fishing,,i fished with a friend of mine from around 10am til 4pm and for the six hour session i hooked between 10 to 12 fish among them i lost one real nice fish possibly close to 3lb which took one aerial leap to shouts delight from me then splash,,as soon as he hit the water he was off with my point fly and i had to re tie another...
below are a few fish that were all safely returned
this fish rose three or four times close to the bank before i
managed to cover it and it took my dropper, a size 12 PTN
as i dislodged the hook i noticed that right in the upper jaw
of the fish was a CORIXA
before safely returning the fish i took the corixa from its mouth
and got a nice close up photo for you to see
a nice fish for Brian this time taken on the Dabbler that i had
hooked most of my fish on
another one of mine again taken on the Claret Dabbler
Brian had decided to use a Damsel Nymph and on his second
cast was into another but lost it,,he hooked and lost two more
before landing this Beauty
this is the fly that accounted for at least eight of the fish
i hooked,,,size 10 claret straggle dabbler with JC cheeks
a very enjoyable day was had for the six hours that we fished and
as we were leaving around 4pm a lovely ripple had appeared on
the water and fish were moving,,,
we both fished intermediate lines all day and varied the retrieve with
Figure of eight and short/long pulls to great effect
Regards
FIREY BROWN

Great report FB, the weather was definitely spring like
Adrian, I will have to get a run up soon
We had our Troutmasters fish off that day, so I was out around the lake all day and it was good to feel the warmth of the sun on your face
