Read most of this book whilst on holiday. It is the fishing autobiography of one angler. The story begins with childhood memories and carries on into coarse fishing. The majority of the book deals with fly fishing for trout.
A book that tries to capture the concept of 'How it feels' as opposed to 'How it's done'. I think it succeeds in this very well. I thought it was a well written book that captures exactly the basic emotions and motivations felt by many anglers. I could certainly relate to most of the content.
I very much enjoyed it and would recommend it highly.

i'll have to look it up. Darryl Grimason's book reading the water is good too. It even goes behind the scenes of the big six programs he did a couple of years ago _________________ "we're gonna need a bigger boat"

Andy,
If you enjoyed Daryll Grimason you should enjoy this. They are both similar in that they are very honest books which portray a certain modesty. Two very readable books. Aston's book has a much more 'English' feel to it with a lot of his time spent fishing for barbel and chub. However the highlights are his accounts of fishing the wild lochs of Sutherland.
Unfortunately I can not pass my copy on, as I donated to the library on my cruise ship, but it is available in paperback from Amazon. _________________ "The world and the universe is an extremely beautiful place, and the more we understand about it the more beautiful does it appear."

| In the same way Chris Yates book 'How to Fish' covers the whole feeling of fishing rather than how to catch them. Its short but its brilliant. |

Certainly not in the Yates league, but an excellent book. If you enjoyed 'How to Fish' I would imagine this will appeal to you, but nothing will ever come close that little masterpiece. That is not in anyway intended to detract from what is a very readable and entertaining book. Good books on fishing are to rare to let pass without comment.
Previous good fishing read was Brian Clarke's 'On Fishing'. _________________ "The world and the universe is an extremely beautiful place, and the more we understand about it the more beautiful does it appear."
