I can sign in

What message do you get when ye try and sign  in ?

Your posts are still showing.. they would show as" guest"  if your profile had been deleted

If you have been banned it would say" you have been banned by the forum administrator "

Probably a glitch in the matrix

Harry,
Among others on this forum I have also been banned from that forum. It is sad that there is a bit of a history between NITA and people on here. There are also people who are happy to post on both and that is fair enough as well, no reason why they should not. Personally I think of the two that this is a much more friendly and better forum with a greater range of expertise and people, although I suppose you could say that I would say that.

Really no reason to drag over old history and open up old sores, sad is the best way to describe the situation which leaves us with two forums covering the same small area of population. Anyway, continue to post on here, continue to post  links on here to any forum you like, even though most of us can not access them and continue to enjoy the whole experience of belonging to an internet forum.  You are after all in very good company.

Ahh .. your accounts been deactivated then

Strange,  I administrate a number of sea angling related  forums ( click on the www  link in my profile to view the boat site) , and If I wanted to ban someone I'd use the ban button ..  then send them an email explaining why . Normally I'd use the three strike rule. Unless its some mad sectarian or race related nonsense.

Still could be a glitch in the matrix I suppose , but you said you had the same problems on the fly dressers forum ?

Chris,
Of course you are right, and that is a fine sentiment. To any outsider veiwing these two places, we must seem totally daft. The answer, common sense would suggest, would be to simply have all members on one forum. That really would make a great place. However, under which regime? A set up where members simply dissapear on a weekly basis and no difference of opinion with the site administrator is tolerated? Not for me thank you. I did not choose to be excluded from the NITA site, (it was at one time quite a good forum) but now that I am I am happy enough to spend my time and effort on this one.

The difference I think is this. Anyone on here is completely free to belong to both sites, for as long as they do not end up banned from one, and to post links and references to each. (Even though many of us can not actually read those links).  No one here is going to get uptight or upset about the fact that NITA exists, after all that is why we are here. This is simply a much better forum, more posts, more informative responses, more active members and far better social activities. Live and let live, after all the place is really pretty unimportant to many of our own members.
ChrisDickey

well NITA has more posts lol just to let everyone know, i have taken over the running of NITA for the forseeable future so I hope we can all be adults and use both forums

Perhaps instead of the term, more posts, I should have said more activity. NITA after all has been in existence longer. I am quite happy to be adult in attitudes towards other forums , but like other members here, I do not have the option of using both.

Good luck while you run things for a while, I am sure that it can only result in improvement.

I would be extremely annoyed if anyone was banned from this site because of their association with any other forum. I would also like to think it would be highly unlikely.

I am quite happy to hear you out, but what do you mean by 'sort out'?

NITA ia a trout fishing forum from which several members on here, myself included have been banned. Although many members happily enjoy both forums I am unable to read or access it. Can't say that it causes me much loss of sleep. You might enjoy.

http://nita.myfreeforum.org/

Flydresser is a fly tying website which apparently is run by the same person. I didn't know that ,but as you have to register to read any of the content I didn't bother. Again you might enjoy.

http://flydresser.myfreeforum.org/index.php

I think in all honesty that you will find this place a lot friendler, more easy going and with much more activity, but each to their own.

After having a look I hope you remain and contribute to and enjoy this forum. You are most welcome.

Visited both sites and they both seem very good especially like the fly tying site, no more or less busy than here. I did not need to join to view the majority of the content. II will see how it pans out to see which is the best but busier is not always better.

Chris,
No problems mate, no one wants to drag this all up, but the subject did arise. No point pretending that nothing ever happened, or treating our members like they are stupid when it is obvious there are some issues. Good luck running NITA but don't forget about us, you have had some excellent posts of late.

thats good latte i hope you enjoy the forum,,i`ve had a look and its just not for me plain and simple

now here`s how i see things as they stand

1) you sign up to this forum pretty recently

2) you make no comments or mention of the contents on here

3) you ask about NITA & the flydressing forum

4) you seem more preoccupied with the promotion of the flydressing forum (which im sure is very good)

5) now you want to know how to "MULTI QUOTE" people

in my experience its not something you`d expect from a BRAND NEW MEMBER but there ya go...

so hopeful you wont mind me asking you,, "just what is your objective on here" ??

havent you found anything of interest yet on this forum ??

perhaps flydressing will make you their PR man once you`re established on the site as you are doing a very good job already

I have now joined this forum, nita forum and flydresser forum and the only issues I have picked up on are with members here. No mention of it is on any of the other forums and it seems that the members on both those forums have not got any issues here, at least it doesn't state that in any posts I have trawled through. As an outsider who has no history of the situation or any members it seems to me that some on here have issues and very big issues with the membership off those forums. It seems very silly that you should have these issues and so openly express them when the parties you have an issue with are not present or have a voice to reply.
Enjoy life and drink a latte.

Thank you for the welcome Firey Brown. It is very much appreciated. Since you ask what is my objective, it is to enjoy the experience of the forum atmoshere, exchange and to learn about angling related issues. I never expected to walk into world war 3. I am simply telling it how I see it. I have no affiliation to anyone or anything. I simply joined and interacted, is that allowed? or do I need to be a member of an inner circle to have a point of view?

issues

latte

the reason people on here are allowed to express how they feel is because its called FREEDOM OF SPEACH,, if they choose to talk about issues then they are free to do so..

you may very well find that the reason you cant find some of the content on NITA is possibly that it has been deleted,,who knows ?? anyhow most of the guys just want to get on with fishing, tying, and whatever else they choose to discuss but on the odd occassion things like this may crop up and they are entitled to voice their opinion

what strikes me as "strange" to say the least is the very fact that you`re new here and to NITA (so you claim) and yet all you are concerned about is forum politics,,no input from you about fishing, tying, rods, flies etc etc that one would expect from a newbee after all it is a Fishing Forum...

if you want to enjoy and contribute to the forum feel free to do so if not you`re free to go elsewhwere

For the record I am not a newbie, no sir. I have over 30 years experience at this game.

fishing

Fair enough latte if you`re here to talk about fishing issues great

im just back today from Lough Sheelin,,4 days of fishing pretty hard at times too,,

Friday was probably too good weather wise and i had 1 fish come to me right at the boat on a very slow drift,,my boat partner just watched in amazement as the trout made a last minute swipe for the fly,,i had him hooked for no more than 2/3 minutes before i lost him,,couldn`t repeat what i said to him on here lol...anyway in your experience what would you have done ??? should i have let him run a bit more or played him a bit harder ??

saturday was pretty much the same with the weather so trying to get a decent drift was hard,,how would you have approached the situation ??
should i have switched to maybe a sinker to get down to them ??
i hooked and lost 2 more fish by the way but that was in the evening..

Sunday was a stinker of a day rain rain and more rain but great drifts i put up maybe 8 or 9 fish,,bang fish on then off nearly all day..what was i doing wrong ???? my boat partner hadn`t touched a thing by this stage what could he have tried ???

i finished with 2 fish to the boat one at just over 1 lb the other maybe 2 lb but hard going all the same,,, sorry no pics of the fish as they went straight back...

Monday (today) saw another hard day on the lough with me putting up 3 fish and my boat partner only 2 but no hook up`s..how could we have improved this ??  the weather was much much better but most of the time we were fishing blind..saw more monster fish this weekend on Sheelin than i`ve ever saw in my whole life....

Pic`s will follow

My two cents
,
I've been on the " internet" since the days of 14k dial up modems and I've seen it all ..and I do mean all Smile

I've moderated on some huge forums, I currently admin three sea angling related forums and I'm on the admin team of another freshwater angling forum. So lets say I've a bit of experience

Disagreements happen, such is human nature. These disagreements can start over something very petty and escalate to full blown " forum wars "  with users being banned , accusations being hurled from forum to forum, even virtual raids on rival forums. It happens

With the creation of discussion boards or forums ,  A new breed of user evolved ,  let me introduce you to the forum " Troll "

Sorry that this has upset you Latte. You are quite right, these issues are silly and old news. BUT, and it is a big but, you asked the question, you got an answer as honest as people could make it. If you don't like the answer don't ask. What did you expect, an avoidance of the issue or a pretence that no one knew what you were talking about? Perhaps a failure to even acknowledge that these other forums exsist.

I hope perhaps that from what has been said that at least you understand enough and we can all forget about it and carry on with the forum.

AS for expressing opinions when others are not present. I actually have not discussed the details and have no reason to on an open forum. I have said nothing in any bad terms about any person and have tried to answer your questions in as general but honest way as possible. Others are free to have their opinion and express it if they please.

You say that there is no issues on these other forums. Have you raised these matters and posted these links on there and asked these same questions. If not perhaps you are judging us unfairly.

You have 30 years experience in fly fishing, I have less than one and a half, your input can only be an asset to any forum that you are on. As well as the other forums you have joined I hope that you will post and contribute fully to this one. Apart from this unfortunate start, it is good to have someone of your experience on board.

Perhaps that if we can agree that enough has been said on this subject to adequately answer the questions that you raised, we can leave this issue at that.

PS
It would be very good indeed to see you on Saturday.

Why? Subjects were raised and discussed. Questions were asked and answered. No one told any lies or said anything offencive. No one has anything to hide. Why would admin lock this thread? If enough has been said on the matter the thread will end by itself. To those with no direct knowledge of the matters it will be as boring as watching paint dry. What is the problem?
