A Wolly what?

has anyone ever tried a wolly bugger over here in a river? Americans seem to have great success on them. i watched a fishing programme not to long ago called the fishing adventurer the man that does it is called cyril and he was fishing an irish river and he put on a blue plug about 3 inches long and hammered them. A lure or a plug would be the last thing i would use

Harry,
I believe that the wolly bugger is an american pattern that was originally developed to be fished in rivers. Trout fly fishing in America is almost allways done on rivers. They call these kind of patterns streamers and use them to imitate small fish and larger insects and bait items. I can see no reasons why it should not work under the right conditions.

I did see the programme you are talking about, I think the guy is a Canadian, but by god he was hard to listen to.  Rolling Eyes  Wink
