Bead Head Lure

Bead Head Lure

this is a pattern of my own that i tied last year and gave to a few friends who had a lot of success with it,, i have been fishing it lately and yet again its taking fish for me on a regular basis,,its nothing special and if anything i would say its simply the combination of coluors (Black,Green,Orange) rather than the materials i used... however its working very well lately so if you find you dont have all the materials then use what you have but stick with the colour combination and see how you get on

Hook: kamazan B830 (long shank) size 10#
thread: Black UNI 6.0
head: Fluorescent Green Bead or similar
tail: Black turkey marabou with mirror flash
body: Orange straggle fritz (rear)
body: Black straggle fritz

Step 1
thread a green bead or similar on to the hook and push up
towards the eye

Step 2
run the black thread along the hook shank stopping
before the bend

Step 3
tie in a piece of black marabou with 2 or 3 turns of thread
to form the tail

Step 4
take a few strands of Mirror flash or any other similar material
and tie in,,(i like to tie them on each side of the hook but its not important)

Step 5
run the thread forward binding down all the materials and trim
the waste to form an even body,,then take the thread back to
the hook bend ready to tie in the next material,,,,,
you should now have something like THIS

Step 6
tie in a piece of Orange straggle fritz with 2 or 3 turns of thread then
wind forward to this position

Step 7
make 4 or 5 touching turns of the fritz remembering to pull the
fibers back with each turn,,this stops the fibers getting trapped as
you wind forward..tie in and trim of the waste,,you should have a
little Orange butt like this

Step 8
take a piece of Black straggle fritz and tie in with 2 or 3 turns of
thread then wind forward towards the bead binding all the little fibers
as you go

Final step
wind on the fritz in touching turns remembering to pull the fibers back
with each turn so they do not get trapped,,and tie off behind the bead
your fly should now look like this,,,
Remember to whip finish and varnish the thread
you dont want all that good work to fall apart  Laughing  Laughing
The final product,,ENJOY  Very Happy  Very Happy  Very Happy  Very Happy  Very Happy

Yes mate thats the one,,the bead is not weighted at all its quite light and would sink slowly however i was fishing it on an intermediate line,,,if im using a floating line i still use this bead head but i would put a little weight into the fly (not to much weight though) so that it sinks slowly which means im covering the depths of the water as i fish,,,tie a couple with and without weight and see how you get on,,,

yes mate i did but im not sure exactly where i bought it,,it shouldn`t be to hard to get i would think,,best person to ask would be Adrian he knows most of the places that sell it locally just send him a PM or try Darren from Woodford

i buy bits and pieces from all the local angling shops so it could`ve been anyone of them as it was last year when i bought it,,if i come across any when im out i`ll get a few extra packets and pass them on to you
