another traditional pattern and a proven taker of fish all year round,,it is wet fly tied to represent midge and a pattern i feel that all anglers should have in their box,,,wild browns just seem to love it,,,,it can be tied in various sizes ie 10# 12# 14# 16#
hook: kamazan 10#
thread: black uni 6.0
rib: oval silver
Tag/Butt: oval silver
tail: golden pheasant tippet
body: black floss
head hackle: black hen
Step 1
run thread to the bend of the hook and
tie in silver rib
Step 2
make 2 or 3 touching turns of silver ribbing to
form the Tag/Butt
Step 3
take a pinch of Golden Pheasant Tippet and tie in behind
the Tag/Butt to form the tail
Step 4
take a length of Black Floss tie in and wind the thread
up towards the eye ,stopping a few milimeters before the eye
Step 5
wind on the black floss to form the body,,you should be aiming to
form a nice cigar shape body (not like mine hurridly done)
the rib should hide the blemishes lol
Step 6
wind on the rib making 4 or 5 evenly spaced turns
Step 7
in the next few steps i`ve tied in a COCK hackle and a HEN hackle
to show the difference in the effects they produce use one or the other
not BOTH,,i personally prefer a
HEN hackle but its up to you which one you choose
this is a COCK hackle,,tie this in and trim the waste
Step 8
here is the HEN hackle,,notice the difference,,the HEN hackle is
much shorter but the fibers of the feather are more densely packed yet
the HEN hackle is much much softer and gives more movement
below the water,,tie this in and trim the waste
Step 9
make 2 or 3 touching turns moving forward towards the eye
this is the effect you will have using a COCK hackle
Step 10
make 2 or 3 touching turns moving forward towards the eye
this is the effect you will have using a HEN hackle (my prefered choice)
Step 11
tie off and whip finish not forgetting to Varnish the head
you dont want all that good work to fall apart 
The Finished Fly,,,ENJOY.....

good man Adrian get some of those secret weapons up threre too... i`ve heard of the splitting thread and dubbing techniche before,,, but very very tricky i believe so i haven`t tried it yet,, its supposed to give a great effect.... a step by step would be excellent i`ll look forward to that
