Bugs`n Stuff

Hi All

after some of the "insomnia" sessions i`ve been having due to boredem and having no transport (which is sorted now so im mobile again  Very Happy  Very Happy ) i decided to tie up a few Buggy Looking patterns and take advantage of tying with proper daylight  Laughing  Laughing

i`d been looking through a few books and a few other sites for some plain and simple ideas so by pinching a few ideas here and there and with a few of my own i put together a couple patterns with some pretty basic tying materials...

these are plain and simple suggestive patterns ie emerger come buzzer come bug,,make up your own mind about them.. however it`ll be fun trying these out

Happy Tying

Thanks lads for your comments

i haven`t actually fished these yet but i would say they could do well on a variety of lines from floaters to sinkers,,,i still haven`t taken full advantage of the Rio Midge Tip line i bought very early on in the season so that along with a floating line is where im going to start with these weather permitting of course but i cant see any reasons why they wouldn`t take a fish or two on an intermadiate at this time of year and sinking lines over the next few months as Autumn and Winter approaches  Shocked  Shocked

i dont know about you lot but i certainly didn`t see much of a summer this year and Autumn is definately upon us  brrrrrrrrrrrr the temp is dropping day by day

Firey,

I think they just have 'Trout Food' written all over them. They all look really good, but I especially like the first one. That just has to catch fish.

Let us know how you get on with the midge tip. Earlier on in the season everybody at Woodford seemed to be catching on them. I jumped on the band wagon and bought the Rio as well. So far have not really used it much and have not caught on it. Seems an akward line to cast and I imagine my #7 feels more like a #8. Be interested in your results.

Cracking flies FB, very buggy, should work well sub-surface when sedges are hatching Cool

I will be using my Midge tip this weekend on Rutland Wink

YES harry

from the top

basically,,Holographic Butt/Tag with hares ear dubbing body and gold rib
then a CDC plume tied in and wound like a hackle with goose biots each side
then dub on some more hares ear at the head and whip finish then varnish

second pic
pretty much the same mate only with a green floss butt/tag,same body etc
CDC plume but added a hackle on this one with 1 or 2 turns then simply dubbed
Claret at the head

third pic
few strands of english partridge at the tail, mixture of Medium Olive dubbing with
hares ear for the body ribbed with oval gold tinsel then build up a thorax
of Hares ear and thorax cover is anything you have at hand

last pic
pretty much the same process as the rest Harry,,Holo butt, hares ear body
CDC plume then some more Hares ear for a thorax but i used a partridge feather
at the head tied in by the TIP with 1 or 2 turns then whip finish

the key thing to making them scruffy is to scrub them up with a piece of Velcro,i have a little piece of Velcro stuck on a lollypop stick to get in around the bend so after you varnish the fly let them dry first and dont be afraid to lay into them with the velcro to pick out all the fibers

hope this is what you looking for,,,Happy Tying

PS
dont be afraid to experiment with ANY materials you have at hand and see
what you can come up with  Wink  Wink

i should have mentioned,,with the addition of legs you can have this effect
