Corrib Green Mayfly

Hi All

the Corrib Green Mayfly,,,i was asked to tie a few of these for a friend
of mine so thought i may as well do a Step by Step while i was at it,,
i dont know anything about the history of the fly except to say that it is
apparently a good pattern for Lough Mask,,, this is tied using PTFE tape
(white plumbers tape) for the body,,,so here goes

hook: kamazan B175 size 10#
thread: black UNI 8.0
rib: fine silver wire
tail: pheasant tail fibers
body: PTFE tape (white plumbers tape)
hackle: badger (palmered)
head hackle: french partridge dyed light olive

Step 1
place the hook in the vise and wind on eight turns of thread

Step 2
tie in fine silver rib

Step 3
take the thread to the bend of the hook

Step 4
grip the waste piece of silver wire with hackle pliers and
wriggle it about until it breaks off

Step 5
tie in some pheasant tail fibers to form the tail

Step 6
wind forward to bind down all the fibers and this will form
an even underbody on which to tie your body material

Step 7
tie in a piece of PTFE tape and wind on to form the body

Step 8
tie in a Badger hackle just were you tied off the body material

Step 9
make ONE full turn of hackle at the start then continue winding
along the body in open turns,,in this case 4/5 turns but depending
on how you want the fly to fish you can add more turns if you like..
once you reach the bend,,wind the wire rib back through the hackle
to secure....

Step 10
trim the waste hackle and the waste wire rib
your fly should now look something like this

Step 11
take a French partridge feather dyed Light Olive

Step 12
prepare the feather by holding it by the TIP and stroke the fibers
gently back until it has this appearence

Step 13
tie the Partridge feather in by the tip in this fashion

Step 14
make 4 or 5 turns of the feather and tie in at the head
remembering to whip finish

Final Step
Varnish the head you wouldn`t want all that good
work to fall apart  Laughing  Laughing  Laughing

The Final Fly...ENJOY  Very Happy  Very Happy  Very Happy
