Fishery PricesHi All
what do you think of our fishery prices ??
are they fair in comparison to other countries ??
do you mind paying that little bit extra for decent fishing in good waters ??
are some fisheries pricing themselves out of the market ??
it would be good to hear your thoughts on the waters you fish and/or if there are fisheries that you wouldn`t vist again due to the pricing and/or quality of fish they provide

I think our prices are very fair. One of the real problems, in my opinion, with our public angling estate is that we do not pay, and therefore contrbute, enough. If you look at the features in magazines about fisheries in other parts of the UK I think we do very well. It seems that the further south you go, the more expensive still water trout fishing becomes. In some cases to the point of the absolute ridiculous. Our prices compare most favourably, I think with fisheries in Scotland and the North of England.
Where we do lose out however is in the ticket structure of their large reservoirs. We simply have nothing that compares with them but I would gladly pay an equivalent price for a similar level of fishing on our DCAL waters. (I'll not hold my breath on any of that).
We certainly do partake in an expensive past time, but what is cheap these days?

I was at Eskragh last Saturday with a mate ,and it cost us £20 each for the boat hire and catch and release ,i thought it was resonable enough as i would expect to pay £50 for boat and engine on the big loughs ,The boats were good and the engine was in good order ,the quality of the trout was second to none ,I will fishing there regularly over the winter as will my club mates ,My local fishery Moorbrook offers good value aswell at £12 for a full day catch and release from the bank only .

Hi Harry,
I haven't been out there for a few weeks ,i know it's for sale and i think the owners are keen to sell the place to continue as a fishery if at all possible .But money talks and if the right price comes up who knows what will happen .

Eskragh is a place I've heard good reports about and is on my list of places to fish. That's very reasonable for a boat and engine and a days fishing.
