Good response so far lads thanks Il close the date for names for next Friday 25th april. If there are any members who would be interested in recieving flies from the swap let me know im sure the guys wouldnt mind tying a few extra for members who dont tie their own.

Yeah and seeing as there only a limited number of members using it I dont think anybody would begrudge another 5-6 flies. It would be different if there was like 300 members lol

Andy the idea is that we get the total number of tyers then we tie that amount plain and simple it means then that everyone gets 1 of te other members flies. Sure this time mate just slip me a SAE to myself and we'l send you the flies from the swap.

Hopefully next time. last time we spoke you had a wee baby, hows things going? i'm expecting my first in a month. i'm bricking it, not least as i'm coming down in assignments and exams at mo. The amount of fishing i do is seriously going to be effected  .

Well guys, I have made a start.
My fly tying skills are not great, eyesight, old age, etc, etc, so I have decieded to make things a bit easier for myself. I can manage to tie a fly that I am quite happy with, but getting a couple more exactly the same just does not happen. Not often anyway.
So in order to get something I can do several times over for the buzzer swop I have opted for a 'Carp Hook Buzzer'. They will be dressed on size 8 short shank Carp 'r' Us Nailer barbless hooks. (I just happened to have a packet lying about.) They should end up as a heavy, fast sinking buzzer that will work either under an indicator or as a point fly in a team. They may also be considered as a sacrificial anchor pattern.
So far so good.

Andy settle mate its the most amazing thing you'l ever experience. If you can tho stay up the top end Ie where your missus head is coz I seen some gory shit when my wife had Becca lol. People tell you it gets very warm etc in the delivery suite but it aint too bad mate. Youl enjoy every minute of it and when you see your kid for the first time it is a moment that stays with you forever.
As far as the fishing goes youl make time to get away and as for the studying forget it mate lol.

10 done. If we need any more I will need to change hook patterns. The short shank nailer, side by side, is exactly the same size and shape as a size 10 Kamasan B100, except for the very obvious thickness in the wire. Dressing is a very simple red cheeked pattern that, in smaller sizes, has been catching me a few fish at Woodford of late.

cheers for the advice adrian, i've settled a fair bit now, whats getting me now is that i've been banned from drinking. At least wifey has given my a by ball on the quitting smoking idea.
fossil, they look class, how did you get on with the new indicators? i'm sorry i didn't go for the bigger ones now.

Have not had a chance to use the skips yet. I got the medium size which look a little bit smaller than the fish pimps I used before. They are also more regular in shape and do not look as if they will sit as high in the water. I hope I can see them alright. I tried the locking system on a loose piece of line and it certainly seems to work.
I am off the next couple of days, and if I get a chance to use them I will add my thoughts to your original thread.

Ok guys we have 9 tiers for the swap so if we all do 10 buzzers each that means there will be 1 set left over which I will run a little forum competition with the the prize being the set of buzzers. Hope this is acceptable with everyone involved.

Yes quite agree. Swaps can be a lot of fun, but to run them on a regular basis the deadlines need to be kept to fairly tightly. Those who agree to take part and then fail to do so should have genetic cock hackles stuck up their noses. That'll teach 'em.

My flies arrived today. Apart from my own effort, I was seriously impressed. The standard of this swap has been amazing. Well done to all who took part, those are buzzers anyone would be proud off.
