Footie ManagerAbout 5 years ago I formed a local football club by the name of Lisnafillan Swifts to play in the Saturday morning league here in Ballymena. I left after the first season due to work commitments so today after 4 years of not having saturdays off I went to watch the team play. I tried to stay in the background as I hadnt seen most of the lads in years but my managerial prowess kicked in and I took a couple of the lads aside at half time. After the game they approached me and asked me to run the wee team again for them as my cousin who had been running them has just had a wee girl and he is taking time off to look after his missus and the child. I of course said yes so I am now back in the local football scene lol. God love the refs. We have 5 league games left this season and could push for a place in the playoffs altho we have a cup 1/4 final on Monday night so il keep you all posted of my managerial success or failures. |

Mmmm where do I start lol. Monday nights game was a tad woeful. We were 2-1 up after the first leg of the quarter final so the away tie was always gona be a tricky affair. I gave my team talk and told the lads where they were to play, everyone of them has played at a higher level altho they are very unfit, I told them to play it tight for the first 20mins or so just to see how the other team lined up etc. First 5 mins my sitting midfielder was in their penalty area chasing rabbits or something lmfao. We went in at half time 2-0 down so with nothing to lose I threw caution out the window and went with 3 upfront. We missed a handfull of chances and had a good shout for a penalty turned down. We didnt score so we were out of the cup 3-2.
Tonights game should prove very interesting we play Woodsides Fc tonight in Portglenone. I used to play for Woodsides and I managed them for a season about 7 years ago. What a baptism Im having lol. I think tonights gona be a kicking session...hopefully

Happy days lads I played a 3-5-2 formation and we won tonight 3-1. What a relief to get my first win under my belt so hopefully onwards and upwards. | ||||||

What's goin on big man. I switch off my pc for a few days to do a bit of painting round the house, get it sorted this evening, turn it back on, check out the wee forum to catch up, and find your a football manager!

We play Cullybackey tonight in a local grudge game. I had 15 players this morning now I think I have 11...why do i bother lol. We are a team supposidly pushing for a playoff place but no comittment from the players. Im gona have to bring in a few lads next season and give this current squad a boot up the hole.
