harry has returned to scotland and had a lucky flukehey guys yesterday me fiery and my dad went to pinbraid fisherery just outside girvin in jockland. we set up our gear and before we got there we aruged about who was gonna win.....
the results ill tell you are shocking
harry being harry was just as confident as me and as a luagh he gave me a buzzer his way of tying and he said this is to show you that its a fair fight and your gonna lose by the fly ive given you.....
i said in return quickly bring it on
well we had lunch 1st and we then set off to our spots
within a minute harry had lost a bite and was in another... and it was wi the fly he had given me but i had his one on too.... so i thought id even the score up soon....
harry had caught a beautiflu 2lb brownie and it was a fair fighter...
i was amazed so i knicked his spot and harry moved up a little and caught yet another fish after loing another bite..... i was so shocked i said id watch a little while... he takes the sppot was in and within a munite he catches again! this time it was a 3 3/4 rainbow and it was jumping like hell
and i still hadn't had a single bite
it then poured down and then 3 minutes before we leeft cause i never had a single bite in 4hrs my dad gets a bite and he lands a 3lbish brownie and when it was in the water i said it a brownie and he said it was a rainbow.... when he hauled it out and seen i was right i told him.... "i can tell what type of fish it is on a line but can never catch em here for some reason. "
in the end the score was harry-firery=5
dad-tack4=1
me-weetack4=0
it was ok but the sad thing that me me want to leave was i was using the same flies as harry but no even getting a nibble from anything
oh well dad and harry are going there again without me this time which is ok cause i caught a bit of a cold cause it lashed down halfway through to the end

Great report weetack, even if the results could have been better for yourself. One thing you should always do when fishing with someone like Firey is watch very carefully and listen to exactly what he tells you. Pay attention and the trip is never wasted.
Something else that I always do is to keep that buzzer and do your very best to make a copy.
Sounds like you all had a great time. Keep us all informed, we will await the photographs.

firday was a hard enough day
it was a fishery i had yet to catch at and was really pleased to break my duck with this beauty of a brown
a tad over 2lb
saturday was me n firey at pinbraid ourselves from 2-10
the wind was stronger than friday and colder and my luck left me i was broken 4 times with decent fish and after playing a hard fighting blue disater struck when my ghuillie lost it at the net
no rise and a hard hard day with harry netting two fish with help from an experienced hand on the net ie ME
sunday was a different day all together at a different venue

well what a different day weather wise
wind had dropped
blue skies with broken cloud..........
firey had decided it would be a team event him n weetack4 aginst me and misstack4
hmmm well misstack4 had only flyfished once before and was finding it very tought to cast but persevered
we arrived around 11 and got all gear out for our planned square susage on rolls, flasks, clothing and various tackle
the owner was there with his grandson strimming n lawnmower goin misstack4 has bad hayfever and was suffering straight away
weetack had first fish so team firey were 1 up
but team tack4 were soon off the mark too with my first fish
more fish were caught by all anglers with misstack4 getting a fish under her belt
scores at lunch were team firey 9 team tack4 5
misstack4 was really suffering and during food prep brunt her hand with a fat splash burn
as my kids respond better to non parent instruction i felt firey would be able to work with misstack4 and coach her and boy did this pay off later
mean while weetack4 was in again as was i this was to keep repeating
we were fishing size 16 cdc's and when cloud cover appeared it was frantic stuff
a lull in takes had me thinkin and i dropped down to size 20's cdc's with instant results
my most pleasing moments of the day were when misstack4 after firey's tution did us all proud with a fine cast developing and, as the cloud cover increased, so did her concentration and bang fish on, played like an angler of many years and landed the fish herself
coach and pupil
and as i walked round wee lochen to pack up grub stuff she proved it wasnt a fluke by repeating the act again
final tally was
weetack4 11 fish (& heaviest fish of approx 2+lb)
tack4 10 fish
firey brown 7 fish
misstack4 3 fish
so team the collective teamtack4 had a grand total of 24 fish for the day
so firey we kicked butt m8
as teamfirey was disbanded after lunch on a stewards enquirey as you were in jockland m8 and my rules are final

JocklandHi All
a great weekend was had by all and i must say a special thank you to all the Tack4`s for their hospitality which was second to none "Thanks Guys"
the whole weekend was a mixed bag of strong cold winds followed by grey skies, bright sunshine, light showers and warm evening breezes but the weather didn`t dampen our spirits and the fish came willingly to our offerings over the three days with some great fights and fantastic takes..
Pinbraid Fishery situated in the mountains of Ayrshire (a 9 acre water) was the first stopping point and Big Tack4 broke his duck with a beautiful fish over the 2lb mark but only after i had already taken 2 Raindows of 3lb and 3 1/2lb then another fish this time a Brown of just over 2lb little Tack4 struggled in the gale force winds but recieves Top Marks from me when he unselfishly set his rod aside and came rushing with his net to help me land a cracking brownie "Thanks Pal"...it was a hard day all round but FIREY was flying the flag for the home land so i had to pull out all the stops to stay ahead
second day at Pinbraid and the conditions were improving albeit very slight however Big Tack4 was way out on top with fish hooked and lost,,his ghillie "ie ME" APPARENTLY was to blame for the lack of experience in netting HIS fish which slipped the hook right at the net some people will blame anyone LOL... Credit were credits due he kicked my Butt good and proper but we`d had a good laugh and great days fishing all round,,,,,score so far Jockland 1 Homeland 1... it all rested on Sunday....
Sunday saw us at Jack Caseys fishery and at last the weather was on our side as Wee Tack4 and I teamed up to take on BigTack4 and Misstack4 for the decider.............
this was the best day of all and without doubt the Stars on the day were definately Weetack4 in FIRST POSITION who must have hooked nearly every fish in the lake followed by a close second with Misstack4 hooking 3 fish and also netting one of them without any assistance from anyone.....
the chain of events that took place HALFWAY through the event on Sunday are a little cloudy with the teams mysteriously being changed, cough cough hmmmmm but Big Tack4 can explain it all i wonder how he`s going to explain it with 10 of our lads staring at him ......sorry lads i tried my best with a "controversial" 3rd place LOL................
a fantastic weekend and cant wait until the next one...photos will follow soon..............
Regards
FIREY BROWN
