KILGAD FISHERY

I called out to the fishery at about 2 this afternoon and took a 4 hour catch and release ticket, there was a nice ripple going across the lake so i opted for a team of buzzers rather than my usual green and white fritz, my first cast i hooked and landed a fish, my second cast i got broke with a really savage take, on my third cast i hooked another fish this 1 was about 4lb and ran me to the backing 3 times, on my third cast all i got was a birds nest but after i sorted it out i was back into another fish, it looked like it was gonna be a real red letter day but things evened out after about an hour and the fish were harder to find but i was happy with my day and i retired at about 4.30 with 7 trout and yet another birds nest

its between kells and moorfields on the kilgad road, its fishing pretty well at the mo. some good rises in the evening and the evening ticket is only £7 which isn't bad

I used to work on Kilgad or Riverdale as it was known then many years ago. Its a lovely wee spot with the Kells river running down 1 side of it. Bit small for me to fish for a full day I like to wander and go off on myown when I'm fishing.

Gary is a real gent (the guy who runs it) and like Darren at Woodford was 1 of the better fishery owners that I encountered thru business. The lake is run by the Kells and Connor angling club and all monies go to enhancing the local rivers with stocks of Salmon and Dollaghan which the club rear onsite.
