Killylane

Me an me da had a wee trip to Killylane today. We had all four seasons in one day, to coin a phrase. Snow, rain, sleet, wind, sunshine and the rest. Sad  Just by chance, it was stocked this morning (honest we didn't know)  Laughing and the fish were more than willing to oblige. Rolling Eyes Floating lines and hare's ears and black PTN's done the trick, though to be honest, I think anything would have done. Shocked So, it should fish well over the next few days if anyone is interested. Cool

I took a run up today for a couple of hours. I was fishing off the wall in the corner at the toilets. I was talking to a bloke when I felt a tug on my line. I tightened up but couldn't feel anything and thought it had gone. I started talking again when I noticed that the end of my line was underwater. I started drawing line in and sure enough fish on. It was just over the pound but very long and quite lean. I tapped him o the head and put him in the bag. I moved round the corner after a while and about twenty minutes later hit into a lovely wee fish though it was probably just under half a pound so he went back. I never got any more touches but there were a fair few fish rising, though it had gone a bit quiet as I left at about 6pm.

I called up tonight for a couple of hours. I got there at 7.30 and there were a few people fishing with the very odd fish moving. I started fishing up the left hand side at the bay where the forest starts. After a while when I hadn't touched anything I moved towards the battery a bit and soon hit into a fish I landed and returned a trout of about 1/2 lb. I got a couple of bites and had three or four on before the hook came out. I then moved a bit closer into the corner and caught my second, possibly slightly bigger than the first. The first was taken on a Connemara Black and the rest were on a Black Pennell. Fish were rising and taking hatching flies hence the Pennell. There were two other guys fishing close to me who were catching on Bloody Butchers and Zulus. I had great fun and the pace seems to be fishing well.
