Lough Erne 18 AprilHi All
headed off to Lough Erne on Saturday to meet up with troutsbane for the day and hopefuly net a fish or two,,,,as we launched from Leggs Jetty we could feel the biting wind almost immediately,,once on the Lough it was apparent it would be a tough day as the wind strenghtend at times and was bitterly cold,,,we had some nice drifts over what looked like very fishy water but the fish were having none of it so we decided to stop early for tea and hoped the day would get a little warmer......
after tea we discussed tactics and were soon afloat but still the bitter easterly wind combined with bright sunshine made conditions pretty difficult to say the least,,once again we had some nice drifts were we instinctively knew fish would be holding up but still we couldn`t tempt anything and the easterly wind seemed to be getting colder then Peter got a pull and fish on for a few seconds then a swirl and it was gone,,
i think that summed up our day so we headed for the Lea side of an island were there was plenty of midge hatching and empty shucks were clearly seen floating around but no feeding fish,,,,,a bit of head scratching with no fresh ideas so we decided to call it a day and head for home.....
all in all a difficult days fishing with nothing to the net this time,,roll on the better weather and Mayfly time..........
Regards
