Make Your Mind UpBloodworm.Trying some Apps style bloodworms. Couldn't deceide on red or green. Love the charteuse/flouro green on any fly, but the flexi floss is not as bright as other materials. Red appears much bolder in the photographs. I feel a 'montana' apps coming up.

Hi FF,
Nice variation of the apps.
Is the flexifloss you are using Veniards?

It had to happen,
Darren, the fine green stuff is but I am not sure about the red and the black. I have not kept the origional packaging, but the green Veniards is fine and fairly translucent, the black and red are thicker with much bolder colour. They have Woodford in mind

Firey,
Started with a red one. Then green after the ones that we saw at Lough Mourne. That led to the 'Make Your Mind Up'. If you are going to start combining colours black and green seems a classic combination.
Effective as the Apps obviously is, I wonder if it really is taken by the fish as bloodworm.

Bloodwormthe Apps Bloodworm is indeed a killer of fish but as you say Fossil no one knows for certain if the fish actually take it for a bloodworm,,some say its more like a Lure because of the movement of rubber legs which induces the take,,,,,whichever way you look at it the Apps does work....
the only thing i can add to that is,,,on the day i spooned the fish at Lough Mourne,,when i was taking the photos of Bloodworm i had to keep separating them in order to get good photos however every time i done this i noticed they would wriggle back together and form a little mass and sometimes it looked like tentacles sticking out in all directions hmmmmm..
remember this photo
after seeing how the bloodworm would react each time i separated them it got me thinking so i went to the vice to try and come up with something a little different (just as you have done) and i crudely put this together in a minute or two,,the little bead in the middle was only for weight...
a little while later i decided on this (yet to be tried) an improvement but the thought was there
look at the top photo then look at this hmmmmmmmm
maybe/maybe not !
food for thought mate,, with a combination of colours it might just work
on one of those days when the fish wont play ball

Firey,
Yes can see where your coming from. You could well be right, the fish take it for a little bunch of bloodworms. Thinking about it now, after seeing your photograph again, that does make sense.
A weird thing that I remember from my match fishing days was stuff called mystic. A type of paste developed by french pole anglers it was a sort of non setting glue or varnish, which came in a tiny tube. A deep translucent red colour, you would put a small blob in the gape of a size 22 -26 hook and pull it away quick to leave that little gluey tail you get. Fished over Joker ( a very small bloodworm used as feed) it was more resiliant than the natural bait. Strange stuff but the fish took it for the real thing.
