Movilla

Hi All

Myself and a few friends are heading to  Movilla on Sunday 13 April for the day,,,,well as luck would have it i was in that neck of the woods today and couldn`t resist calling in.........

set up the rod around 2.45 and fished buzzers,PTN`s,hares ear etc with not much success,,plenty of fish were moving and seemed to be pretty high in the water so i treid a few dries and after 40 minutes got broken but then things went quiet for quite a while until David and Drew arrived,, uh oh they brought ALL the bad luck with them  Laughing  Laughing  Laughing ...

fished on for another while without much success and caught David and Drew having a sneaky look in my fly box   Shocked  Shocked   LOL just kidding lads,,

anyway i was showing them a couple of flies i had tied and was intending to use them,,so as they said goodbye and headed for home a nice ripple came on the water and i decided to use the little black hopper thingy with jc on the point and a buzzer on the dropper,,,10 minutes later i got broken followed by a nice fish of maybe 2lb,,then as luck would have it i got broken again (not my day 3 fish have escaped with 3 of my flies),, i decided to fish with a single fly ie the hopper thingy and missed a few more fish before i hooked another,,then another pretty close to 4lb and in excellent condition so i decided to call it a day and head for home,,

all in all i`d had a decent days fishing and got to try out a few flies with good results,,roll on Sunday for a full days crack at it lol  Very Happy  Very Happy  Very Happy

Here`s the Little Black Hopper thingy that took nearly
all the fish for me (size 12#)

Great report FB. Really like the look of the black hopper. Hope you have a good day today, but I would be thinking about changing my spool of leader material.  Wink

Troutsbane,

I was down at Movilla today, but left at about 4pm. Fiery's probably still there! Laughing  When we got there it looked like we were going to have a bumper day. I got a pull on my first cast then took a fish of 1lb on about my fourth or fifth. Meanwhile my dad got broke on his first or second cast. Things were very quiet then for me for a while. My dad got one on a small yellow gold head lure. We spooned the fish but there wasn't much in them except for a couple of snails, a few hoglice and a few small green buzzers. He then hit into a second fish and after landing it asked me to bring the scales (in case it was over 4lb - there's a £2 charge on fish over this size) but I hit into a fish then lost it. Dad managed to catch another and released it but that was pretty much the last action we saw until about 3.30pm when I caught one of 3lb. Conditions made it tough going as there was a cold wind from the north combined with bright sunshine which put the fish down. I would imagine that things may have picked up later on as the sun wen down a bit, but unfortunately I had to get home.
