newyear's day adventure in jocklandwent to my local fishery approx 26 miles form home conditions looked iffy and it had rained all night
but when we arrived at Jack Casey's Fishery it looked more promising
partcipants were me tack4(andrew), littletack4(kyle) and my brother in law (well their engaged)( Iain)
iain hadn't fly fished in over 4 years and witha bit of assistance from me with leader n a cdc buzzer on dropper and a ptn on the point was ready to rock n roll
he couldnt remember if he cast left or right handed
(sea fishing he's right handed but writes with his left)
he started to cast left handed and it a thing to behold nice tight loops straight cast and within minutes he was into his first fish
to the cdc
followed soon after by kyle with his first fish of the year after i set him up with short leader and same flies and his first fell to the cdc buzzer too
iain was soon in again on the ptn and fish were supping and jumping all over the place
at last i was tackled up and was into my first fish of the year too a shade under 2lb and fell to the ptn
Iain's swim was slowing down and i suggetsed a wee move for him and immeadiately i took two fish on the bounce wher he had been
next fish fell to me a hard fighting ?blue of a tad over 3lb but what a scrap on my 5wt rod
my collection for the table was rising photo taken by kyle thanks m8
things slowed and kyle was getting in a tizzy re his casting so i went to try to help but he dont listen to me
anywho i checked his leader and removed a nice tangle cast out his line and gave him back his rod........
as i walked back to mine i suddenly heard his reel burst into life as a fish screamed away with his fly
an exited dad was now coaching him to concentrate and gain line when ever he could he played it like a true pro and what seem like an age but was prob only 3-4 mins he had safely landed the fish which was a full tailed rainbow of approx 2 1/2lb that had jumped dived shook his head and played hard to get
nice one matey
we then broke for a bit of grub cupa soup hot chocolate crisps biscuits and when refreshed headed out again
the air was deffinately cooling and sadly kyle had no more fish but did assist Iain on more than one occasion to land a few more fish
anyone need a ghillie
a few more fish fell to my flies which i had changed us all on to GRHE's on the point and a dealdy wee fly it turned out
final tally was me 6 fish with heaviest, Iain 5 fish, kyle 2 fish but best scrap
a great day and hopefully the start of a great years fishing
tightlines to all in 2008

Great account Andrew and photos.
26 miles to your local fishery
About 4 miles to Straid and walking distance from Woodford.

nearest waters are controlled by angling assoc and march to september season only
straid is probably closer as the crow flies
