Review - Grey's Platinum Clear Intermediate 7wt.I have been using this line for about 6 months now and there are a lot of things I like about it. I like the idea of a clear line, it gives you that bit more confidence that it cannot be seen. Whether or not it actually makes any difference in practice, I don't know, but this line is perfectly clear. It is also described as a distance line and I can certainly cast it further than any other of my lines. It loads rods positivily and quickly and shoots slickly through rod rings. It also sinks a little quicker than other intermediates which makes it a useful allround sinker if you do not want to carry a pile of spare spools with you.
Since the weather has got colder I have been using this line a lot more and have begun to notice a couple of little niggles. The running section has an awful tendecy to kink and tangle and the kinks between reel and first ring are impossible to pull out or straighten while fishing. Also the amount of stretch in this line is quite staggering. To attempt to solve the kinking problem I have been giving this line a good stretch and found that I can pull it almost a third of it's own length. Considering that with a sinking line your bite indication is mostly by feel, I find this unacceptable.
The platinum is a good line and I am in no rush to replace it, but when it does need replaced, I do not think I will buy another. 6/10.
