River MaineI had a few hours spare on saturday so i called down to the gracehill and galgorm water on the river maine, conditions were far from perfect with bright sun and very low water but wen i got to the river the trout were rising pretty steady so on went the waders, in the three hours i fished i only landed 6 trout but every1 of them would have been over the killing size, (all were returned tho) 2 of the fish were well over a lb and the biggest measured 17 1/2 inches on my rod

Mick,
Really like the sound of that. Is that day ticket water, and if so where would you get tickets?

Great days sport MICK I also fish the maine & im a yearly member of the randalstown ac. Its sort of all deep slow moving water with just a few fast streams but the trout fishing can be fantastic. My biggest so far was about 4lbs & returned to fight another day . I have seen bigger brown trout ( not dollaghan ) but still trying & living in hope of catching them. Day tickets can be purchased at the petrol station or the fishing tackle shop in randalstown not sure of the price but i know they go up in price later in the season when the salmon & dollaghan enter the river. Fossil fish there,s also a rainbow trout farm along the river & when they escape as they always do in high water you could catch yourself a double figured rainbow.

Cheers Apache,
River fly fishing is one of things that is on my list to do. If I ever manage to get round to it.
