Woodford This WeekI was down on Sunday evening but only managed to land one. Howeve, my scales only go up to 7lb and the fish took them off the scale. My dad reckoned it to be somewhere between 8 and 9lb.  It went back.
Last night we were down again. This time I managed to land two, return one, lose one and had a number of pulls. I caught all three on small (#18 or so) dries. There was an abundance of fly life including cinnamon sedges, caenis, flying ants and later on large buzzers.
The patterns I caught on have done well for me in the past and are as follows:
1.
Thread - Black
Tail - Badger hackle fibres
Body - white flexi floss stretched quite thin so that the thread can just about be seen through it.
Hackle - Badger.
The badger hackle along with the black thread at the head give a nice impression of the dark thorax area on the caenis.
2.
As above except with a black thread body instead of the flexi floss. This fly started to take a bit later on when the buzzers were starting to hatch.

Buzzer Hatch At WoodfordThis is a picture of the large Olive Buzzer hatch the occured at Woodford, the boat was absolutly crawling with buzzers. The air was full of them, very similar to the Caenis hatch.

that was the same as up at Tildarg on tuesday night, hiving with black ants and apple green buzzers, a welcome sight at every stillwater

Curiously these ants looked more like red ants!?!  There were apple greens hatching off as well earlier in the evening - round bout 7.30 -8pm. What size and colour buzzer would one use to represent the unhatched or hatching apple green? Ie. is the pupa an apple green colour as well or are they black (or some other colour) until they hatch?

there wer sum red ants but 95% were black. late with us we get apple green and black adult buzzers as to what to use i try to use spripped peacock herl for the body of emergers and ther have been guys up with us using black hares ear fibres and dubbing them on the hook with CDC

The buzzers in the picture are of a grey/olive colour and 10 to 15mm long.
During the day olive buzzers #12 and #14 have been fishing well.
