Woodford

Went to Woodford today and caught a 11 pound 7 ounce rainbow. Brilliant lake and brilliant day and thanks to Harry for his netting expertise.

Early in the trout season and its already made up for a rubbish pike winter

Will be back again soon Darren and Im glad I beat Fossils Woodford record.

Syd,
Well done, brilliant fish. Did you enter it into the Troutmasters? You are right, it beats my best out of sight. Woodford is a great place and I have taken membership this year. I am really enjoying the freedom of coming and going when I please. A well run fishery with very friendly and helpful staff.

11lb 7ozs would actually be quite a nice pike. It is a pity you were there on the day I went back to work, hopefully catch up with you later in the year.

in my opinion troutmasters is a bit of waste of time, yea it is nice getn the badge n geting name in magazine, i have 2 badges but with regards to the local fish offs, they are waste of time, we had 3 people at Tildarg fishing it after 14 people confirming they were going to fish it....grrrrr
fossil-fish

It was nice to get a badge.

I didn't fish the fish off either. Embarassed  Embarassed

Sorry you feel that way Chris, but most anglers just enter to get their name in the mag, a lot of people are not interested in fishing competitions or traveling to England to fish the final.
There was 15 out of a possible 25 turned up at Woodford, including 1 that had travelled up from Maynooth. The 1st year I run it there was only 4 turned up. You can not make anglers turn up but I can see the appeal of getting your name in the mag and getting a badge for your coat.

Did you fish the fish off that you qualified for, if so did you enjoy taking part?

A fishery being a member of the Troutmasters does bring in a lot of publicity when they enter their monthly results, due to the amount of anglers that read the results.

Yes, I suppose that is exactly the way I felt. A sense of achievment from catching a big fish but no real desire to fish competitions and I was never going to fish in the final. It was nice to get a mention in the magazine and if you have really enjoyed the day and the fishery has provided a good service, then they certainly deserve a little credit.

i totally agree with you on that front, i liked getting my name in the magazine, who doesnt, it just the fish off part that gets on my nerves lol getting my new car soon darren, so will get down for a wee run to u and maybe see some forum members there
