had a day off so after dropping kids at school headed to my fav water locally Jack Casey's fishery 25 miles from my door
a small but pleasant fishery
arrived to a dull overcast sky light winds and even at 10 am fish were freely rising
pulled in the floating containers that are strung accross the lochen to ?? scare off cormarants
and set up my 5wt rod plan was to try some daddies that i had tied first
no strike indicators allowed but then i suppose a big dry fly is just that and new zealand style tied on a dropper with two crisp buzzers on
rose a few to the daddy but no takes
team of three buzzers on static or slow fig 8 had no effect
silver sedge went on next with a buzzer
caused a few rolls but no takers
aw well looks like its time for a rethink and some grub
size 14 cdc orange butt with light grey body resulted in first fish then only looks rolls and electric swipes casuing missed takes
as the pattern had been from the off the fish switched off again
a well think like a fish time
coffee and a retackle of tippet to 4lb line and an all orange size 20 cdc then took 9 fish in a row giving me two gorgeous wee brownies a nice blue and a further 6 rainbows the biggst of just over 2lb but fought well above his weight
total of 10 fish a killer fly still hook sharp n straight n a happy angler
passed a few flies on to some other guys and watched in delight as they started to get takes
a m8 of mine says " its nice to be nice" and so it is lol
packed up and headed back to pick kids up from school
shortish session but very fruitful
