Here is a wee muddler I have been tying up tonight . Im quite chuffed as this season I have been dying up my materials . Most of the time  getting the shades I want while going about it in a hap hazard way  Very Happy
A lot of you guys will have been doing this for years  but I have been dying mallard flank in the colour/ shade I want and then cloacking 1/2 flank with 1/2 natural Bronze mallard in some Dabblers.
(Rather than just dying the bronze).
This way you get the overall colouration you want but with a pattern that has the added benafit of contrast in the cloacking .
For any novices like myself -  take half the amount of each "flank" and "bronze" lay the bronze on top of the dyed flank and catch in in a oner . Layering up 2 or 3 colours ,before catching in , is a fast way to gain life in a fly without adding  bulk. The other benafit is ... if you dye flank and make a mess of the colour you haven't lost much.

2 bits of mallard ready to be placed together.

catch in and cloack

finished Muddled Dabbler.

Hope this helps or inspires someone
cheers
Jim

That is actually a fantastic looking fly. Love the combination of colours, gives it that sort of alive look.
Very Happy
